The mountains and the valleys from
Benifallet got a long history and because of the surrounding rises up to more than 900m a special morphology. The cave "La Cueva Rupestre de Culla" belongs to the epoch of the "Young Stone Age" and shows two human figures stylised in black. In the cave "La Cueva de Aumidiella" were found remains of decorated ceramic, glas and implements. There are two historic settlements. One from the 7. century b.c. with a lot of ceramics of the Phoenicians and the other from the "iberian time" called "Castellot de la Roca Roja" which is surrounded by a 3m high and 4m strong wall. There is also a roman necropolis and rests of a irrigation canal. The origin of Benifallet could be in the epoch of the "sarracenas" whereon the name Benifallet is build. After the conquest of Tortosa (by Ramón Berenguer) were the first documents with the following content published:
"The earl did give the village to Berenguer Pinyol as a beneficence."
During the civil war Benifallet became victim of the "Battle of the Ebro".
