Paüls, Catalonya - Spain


Paüls This population emphasizes by its name of Latin origin "paludes" which means lagoons. Later it was mixed with the sarracena culture, also in this time the Castle of Paüls was constructed. The Castle already existed in 1148 when it was conquered by Ramon Berenguer IV. Later the village underwent different donations from several medieval landowners until the modern time. During the wars carlinas, Paüls was victima of attacks and fires that destroyed the town during the war. During the Civil War, Paüls was center of the front.
