Roquetas is a village located at the right side of the Rio Ebro, limiting by the area of Tortosa and Alfara de Carles. According to a saying, the independence of Roquetes took place after the Queen Isabel II gratitude a village inhabitant, with whom she had a love affair, the mayoralty. According to other sources, independence came because of a trip of the queen to Cataluna in which Tortosa did not want to open the doors of the city to her, but however, Roquetes opened them.
