Tivenys is a population of completely Iberian origin, whereupon some archaeological finds which belong to the time of the "stone age". In the yaer 1148 the village was foundet like it exists today. The village was given as a gift to the "Templars" who had a big influence in agricultural cultivation as well as in new agricultural buildings. All the commercial transports, up till Tarragona, were made on the river. In century XIV, Tivenys was freed of the power of the "Templars". Tivenys also underwent a saracen invasion which finished in 1610. In century XVII began its demographic and economic recovery.
